This was one crazy week in the NFL. Week One usually is as the teams take a few weeks to adjust to who they really are for the season. The biggest surprise that I had was how dominate the Texans seemed to be against a struggling Jags team. Also, the Packers and Titans just fell flat.
The biggest riser this week was the New Orleans Saints rising up 8 spots to the number 10 spot. The biggest fall were the Titans and Ravens. The Titans just looked awful. The Ravens will struggle all year if they don't address the o-line issues. They also don't look as dynamic with who they have in the running game. That could all chance given a few weeks in the system with number ones.
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) (--)
They had a close game in a shootout against a very impressive Cowboys squad. Their secondary and o-line scare me a bit as they are thin there. Tom Brady looked as good as ever. Those INTs weren't really on him.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) (--)
They had a very close game against one of the better teams in the league. You can't give Mahomes extra possessions and that is what the Browns did.
3. Los Angeles Rams (1-0) (+4)
I knew Stafford would have a big year with all the weapons around him and a defense that actually supports him. They are going to be scary this year.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) (+4)
Their offense isn't going to be top 5 this year but they are dangerous enough especially with their defense to make some noise. They beat a very good Buffalo Bills team.
5. Seattle Seahawks (1-0) (+5)
Russ throws one of the prettiest deep balls in the league. If their offense keeps clicking they will be close to unstoppable especially at home. Their division is very tough though.
6. Buffalo Bills (0-1) (-3)
They caught a very good defense week one. Their offense didn't look like they were on the same page at times. I do believe this corrects itself as they have a very loaded roster.
7. Cleveland Browns (0-1) (-3)
Their drop was more about other teams impressing me more with their wins than the Browns losing a very close game. They have probably the best roster in football. Can they win close games against elite teams? They are going have to if they want to take the next step. Baker looked the best I have ever seen him. They just made too many mistakes when they had to play perfect against the Chiefs.
8. Arizona Cardinals (1-0) (+5)
Wow, Kyler looked unstoppable against a team that many thought were AFC contenders. I think the Titans are better than they showed us but that should take nothing away from how dominate the Cardinals were.
9. San Francisco 49ers (1-0) (+2)
The 49ers let the Lions come back to get close. I'm not sure what to think of that. However, they looked really good. A few injury concerns again but I think they overcome as long as they don't pile up like last year.
10. New Orleans Saints (1-0) (+8)
Wow, the Saints displaced and all took the Packers to the woodshed. Their whole team looked very impressive. I think the passing yards will go up for Winston but he didn't have to do too much as his defense put him in good position all game long.
11. Green Bay Packers (0-1) (-6)
I think the Packers are better than they showed up. Rodgers looked like a man that was away from football mentally and physically the whole offseason. I think the entire team fed off of his energy. If Rodgers gets his mind right the Packers will still be a force.
12. Los Angeles Chargers (1-0) (--)
The Chargers looked good against an elite defense. The game was close but they did just enough to put the game away. If Washington had a better QB would that have changed things? Maybe.
13. Baltimore Ravens (0-1) (-7)
I kind of talked about the Ravens with the opening paragraphs to this article. I have some concerns. Will Lamar be enough to overcome them? We will see. Not a good week to get things right as they are facing the Chiefs next. They very well might start off the season 0-2.
14. Dallas Cowboys (0-1) (--)
The Cowboys offense is going to be scary this year. Their defense not so much. Dak is...back!
15. Miami Dolphins (1-0) (+1)
The Dolphins concern me as Tua doesn't look as progressed as much as he should be. However, they won against the Patriots in their division. I'm not sure they win the second match-up with Mac Jones having a few games under his belt.
16. Tennessee Titans (0-1) (-7)
Wow, the Titans got embarrassed and Henry disappeared along with the rest of the team. I'm sure they should correct some issues but that wasn't a good opening week for an "AFC Contender".
17. Denver Broncos (1-0) (+4)
The Broncos defense looked good but how much of that was how bad the Giants O-line is? The Giants couldn't do anything. I still don't think Bridgewater is the answer but he effectively moves the ball without making mistakes. I think with that defense they should make a good run. I don't see them winning many shootouts though even with those weapons.
18. Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) (+4)
They looked good opening week. Joe Burrow keeps impressing me. It seems that Chase can catch the ball after all. Will their defense do just enough to keep them in games? I'm not sure.
19. New England Patriots (0-1) (--)
The Patriots looked pretty good. I think they will win a handful of games with Mac in his first year. They certainly have the coaching.
20. Washington Football Team (0-1) (--)
Their defense will keep games close. Their offense will have to do better. If their defense slips up against a high powered offense I don't think their offense can do enough to keep the game close.
21. Indianapolis Colts (0-1) (-6)
I had quite a few concerns about the Colts going into the season predicting them to win 6 games with 10 being their ceiling. I think Wentz will hold up and do a good job. Their are some injury concerns and lack of depth at WR. Defense looks good as always though.
22. Minnesota Vikings (0-1) (-5)
The Vikings need to close out games like that in week one. They have arguably better weapons and a better defense. Will they bounce back?
23. Las Vegas Raiders (1-0) (+3)
They had a magic comeback against the Ravens. However, some concerns of mine are who else is going to step up. Waller can't catch every ball. Jacobs didn't look like his normal self to me. Their defense at times looked shady. Derek Carr looked amazing to me though. If they work on a few things they will be rising fast throughout the next couple of weeks.
24. Carolina Panthers (1-0) (--)
The Panthers looked good, not great in their opener. CMC didn't have to score a TD to be the best back of week one. It is going to be scary once their offense gels.
25. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) (+3)
I said before the season that Jalen Hurts might be a steal in later rounds in fantasy drafts. He looked really good. I thought the Falcons would do better. Not sure if that is because the Eagles are going to be a lot better than expected or the Falcons are going to be worst than I thought.
26. Chicago Bears (0-1) (-3)
Start. Justin. Fields.
27. Atlanta Falcons (0-1) (-2)
I thought Matt Ryan would do Matt Ryan things. Throw for a million yards to make up for their defense. They might be in serious trouble if Ryan can't get things going.
28. New York Jets (0-1) (+2)
I think Wilson looked good in his NFL debut. The Jets are just having terrible injuries one after another. It is going to be a long year for the Jets. However, they should be hopeful because I think they finally have their QB of the future.
29. Detroit Lions (0-1) (+2)
The Lions have some fight in them that is for sure. I'm interested to see how they bounce back.
30. New York Giants (0-1) (-1)
The Giants might have the worst O-line in the league. That's not good for Jones who has been struggling. Barkley just isn't enough especially coming back from injury. They need help.
31. Houston Texans (1-0) (+1)
I'm not buying into the Texans too much. They are still the worst ran team in the league. They just destroyed a very underprepared Jacksonville team. Urban Meyer might be checked out already.
32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) (-5)
Lawrence didn't look too bad. Their gameplay was just god awful.
