NFL Week Five Power Rankings

Another week is down in the NFL.  It is crazy to think that this is week five already.  Seems like a few days ago we were talking about the season opener.  This week the highest riser was +4 by the Chargers after an impressive two weeks winning against their AFC West foes, Chiefs and Raiders.  The biggest fall was by the Lions at -5 who still haven't won a game while other bad teams around them in the rankings are improving.  Here are my week five power rankings.

1. Arizona Cardinals (4-0) (+2)

It was only a matter of time before the Cardinals become number 1.  They solidified that by beating the previous number 1 in a very impressive Rams team.  Ladies and Gentleman, The Kyler Murray Show.

2. Los Angeles Rams (3-1) (-1)

The Rams still have a very explosive offense and impressive defense.  I don't see them losing that many games.  They better hope they win the next game against the Cardinals or the Cardinals to drop off.  It will be a crazy finish to their division.

3. Buffalo Bills (3-1) (+1)

A shutout is very hard to do in the NFL let alone how weak the opponett is.  The Bills defense is shutting out teams while their offense is tied for putting up the second most points in the league.  That is how you win championships.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) (-2)

They didn't look themselves against the Patriots.  How much of that was Bill knowing what Tom hates playing against?  Their secondary is a huge concern for me right now.  I don't think they did enough to address it with Sherman and the injuries keep piling up.

5. Green Bay Packers (3-1) (+2)

The Packers have won 3 straight after getting embarrassed week one.  I think they are back, folks.

6. Baltimore Ravens (3-1) (+3)

The Ravens depth is just impressive.  The coaching and adjustments are all top notch.  Will their depth last the whole season?  They have been proving me wrong thus far.

7. Los Angeles Chargers (3-1) (+4)

The Chargers beat the Chiefs and Raiders in back to back weeks.  They are a more balanced team in the the division.  Their defense might be closing the game to make up for the Chargers offense not being as good as the Chiefs offense since the Chiefs defense is so poor.

8. Cleveland Browns (3-1) (-4)

Man, Baker really struggled in a week where he could have put away the game several times.  Not concerned yet as they still pulled out the win.

9. Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) (+2)

The Chiefs return to the top ten after an impressive win against the Eagles.  The game wasn't as close as the score indicated as the Eagles scored a last second touchdown in garbage time.  The Chiefs need to fix the defense, period.

10. Las Vegas Raiders (3-1) (-4)

The Raiders looked horrible in the first half against the Chargers.  They tried to come back but failed in the end.  This team is still good but they can't have bad halves against good teams.  They aren't explosive enough to overcome that like the Chiefs can on a regular basis.  Only positive 4 in point differential.

11. Dallas Cowboys (3-1) (+2)

The Cowboys are a good team.  They are putting away teams that they should and making it look easy for the most part.  Zeke is back which should worry the rest of the NFL.

12. San Francisco 49ers (2-2) (-4)

The 49ers can't lose games like that if they want to compete for a very tough division title this year.  They are good enough across the board.  What is missing?  Trey Lance, maybe?

13. Denver Broncos (3-1) (-3)

The Broncos have beating the Jags, Giants, and Jets.  They have lost against the Ravens.  Should they even be in the top 15?  Their defense is still good and Bridgewater is efficient more times than not.  Let's see how next week goes.

14. Cincinnati Bengals (3-1) (+2)

The Bengals are going to be right there at the end with the Ravens for the division title.  Burrow is looking great.

15. Carolina Panthers (3-1) (--)

The Panthers are just hard to figure out.  They look good but you don't really trust that.

16. Tennessee Titans (2-2) (-2)

How can you lose to the Jets?  Even without your two best wideouts, this team on paper is miles ahead.  Just goes to show you that any given Sunday.

17. Seattle Seahawks (2-2) (+1)

Fun Fact:  Their team has only given up one more point and scored 12 less points than the Rams.  Maybe they aren't as bad as we think?

18. Minnesota Vikings (1-3) (-1)

I said it last week that the Vikings are a good football team.  They just have had some unlucky bounces.  The good bounces need to start coming their way sooner rather than later.

19. New England Patriots (1-3) (+1)

The Patriots really took it to Tampa Bay.  You have to see Mac Jones play in that game as a good sign.  Seems like they've made the right choice to cut Cam and go with the rookie.

20. New Orleans Saints (2-2) (+1)

They are like the Panthers.  You just can't figure them out.  One week they look amazing.  The next week they look horrible.  They aren't consistent on any side of the ball this year.

21. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-3) (-2)

The Jags, Giants, and Falcons have put up more points than the Steelers.  That right there is all you need to know.  Their offense just isn't putting up points.  Can they fix it?  It is a long season.

22. Philadelphia Eagles (1-3) (+1)

The Eagles were impressive for most of the game against the Chiefs after a short week where they were beat easily by the Cowboys.  Hurts looked really good but so does everyone else against the Chiefs defense.

23. Indianapolis Colts (1-3) (+1)

The Colts proved me wrong in beating the Dolphins.  The injury concerns are still there for me.  Can they overcome them?

24. Washington Football Team (2-2) (-2)

Only the Falcons and Chiefs have given up more points so far this year.  That is unacceptable as this defense on paper is supposed to be one of the best.  They are suppose to keep them in games.  Their offense just can't win a lot of shootouts in which their defense puts them in position to go out and try to do.

25. Miami Dolphins (1-3) (--)

They are tied in 3rd in the league with -47 point differential.  You can't win many games like that.  Why did they pass up on Herbert again?

26. Chicago Bears (2-2) (+1)

They have scored 64 points which is 3rd worst in the league behind the Dolphins and Jets.  I'll just let you think about that for a minute.

27. New York Giants (1-3) (+2)

Daniel Jones continues to impress.  Once again, others around him need to step up.

28. Houston Texans (1-3) (--)

I'm not bagging on Mills because to get to the NFL you have to have talent.  However, I honestly think I could have had a better game at QB then he did last week.

29. Atlanta Falcons (1-3) (+1)

They continue to stay low because they have a lot of talent and continue not to win games.  What is wrong? They have the worst point differential in the league with -50 and the Texans just lost 40 to 0 against the Bills.  Hmm.

30. New York Jets (1-3) (+2)

The Jets showed heart and won against a vastly superior Titans team.  I'm not sure the Jets win many more games this year but this was definitely impressive.

31. Detroit Lions (0-4) (-5)

I really don't have much to say about the Lions.  Who will they draft in the top 3 next year?

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) (-1)

Is Urban going to last to the end of this week as head coach?
