I'm so ready for the first game of the football season in 5 days! The first game is pretty intriguing with the defending Super Bowl Champs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Dallas Cowboys. It is pretty hard to analyze this game simply because the Cowboys are a different team with Dak which were without him most of the season last year. The Buccaneers we know are pretty much the same team as last year.
Let's look up at some match-ups based on last season.
When Tampa Bay passes: Tampa Bay has the advantage. They were 3rd in passing last year whilst the Cowboys were 11th in defending the pass.
When Tampa Bay rushes: This is a push. Tampa Bay was 28th in rushing last year while the Cowboys were 31st in stopping the run.
A quick little piece of information. The Cowboys spent their first 6 picks in the NFL draft on defense. Their offense shouldn't be the issue and they are looking to help a very poor defense. Will it be enough to compete with top tier teams like the Buccaneers?
When Dallas passes: The Cowboys have the advantage. They were 8th in passing last year whilst the Buccaneers were 21st in defending the pass.
When Dallas rushes: Tampa Bay has the advantage. Tampa Bay was 1st in stopping the run while the Cowboys were 17th in rushing.
MY PICK:
I pick the Buccaneers to win this game but I think it will be closer than most. Dak is going to take a few games to get back to normal as he has been out of football for a while now and didn't play in the preseason this year. I think the Cowboys defense will be much improved.
